Globe Volunteer Stewards

Recruitment now closed for the 2017 Season

All the Stewards at Shakespeare’s Globe are volunteers. Stewards perform a vital role as the public face of Shakespeare's Globe during our performances and events, to make sure that our visitors are happy and safe.

Over the last year Volunteer Stewards contributed an incredible 60,763 hours of their time across theatre and education events which is a huge donation to the charity and we are extremely grateful. There are many reasons that our volunteers give us their time, some people volunteer to try something new or to gain new skills, others enjoy having the chance to meet new people, to be part of a supportive team, or to further their interest in theatre and the Arts. We think it is great fun and don’t just take our word for it, our volunteers have told us why they volunteer at the Globe:

‘I volunteer because I love to be a part of the excitement of live theatre’
– Samaria

‘I volunteer because Shakespeare’s Globe brings together so many diverse people’
– Brian

We recruit for new volunteers ahead of the Globe Summer Seasons each year, with applications being accepted between October and early January. We particularly welcome applications from members of our local community in the London boroughs of Southwark and Lambeth. Applications for the 2018 Globe Summer Season are expected to be open in October 2017.

Due to the high volume of applications we receive each year, we are unfortunately unable to accept applications outside of this period, however if you have specific questions about volunteering at the Globe then please do get in touch with us and we will get back to you as soon as we are able to. Our email address is volunteer@shakespearesglobe.com.

Thank you for your interest,
