Without this enormous voluntary support, performances could not continue as they do at the Globe.

All the stewards at Shakespeare's Globe are volunteers, and every performance requires a minimum of 40.

Stewards perform a vital role as the public face of Shakespeare's Globe during our performances and events, ensuring that our patrons have a positive, enjoyable and safe experience.

Volunteer Open Day

Shakespeare’s Globe Volunteer Open Day: Saturday 24th October 2015

Find out more about volunteering as a steward in our iconic theatres.

Informal drop-in sessions will run throughout the day from 11am – 4pm.

Sessions running throughout the day:

  • Volunteer Welcome Desk – pick an information pack and meet the team.
  • A day in the life of a steward – meet some of our current volunteers and hear about their experiences.
  • Meet the Front of House Team
  • Application support and Q&A

There is no need to book just come along to our main foyer and pick up a timetable from our Volunteer Welcome Desk anytime between 11am and 4pm (please note the last sessions start at 4pm).

Our Volunteer Steward team perform a vital role, welcoming our visitors and making sure they have a wonderful visit to Shakespeare’s Globe. The Volunteer Open Day is a chance for you to hear about all the volunteer steward role, meet the team and get support with filling in your application.

There are many reasons to volunteer with us; some people volunteer to try something new, or gain new skills, others enjoy having the chance to meet new people, be part of a supportive team, or to further their interest in theatre and the Arts. Whatever your reason for volunteering we would love to meet you!

If you are not able to attend on Saturday 24th we will be running a drop-in session on Tuesday 27th October 5.30pm – 7.30pm in our education centre. This session will give you the opportunity to talk to our current volunteers and volunteer manager. Please email if you would like to attend this evening session.
