Shakespeare’s Globe in partnership with Arts Alliance Media will release three of its theatre productions to cinemas in the USA, Australia, New Zealand and the UK. The Globe on Screen season will launch globally this autumn and will include All’s Well That Ends Well, Much Ado About Nothing, and Doctor Faustus.
Originally staged at Shakespeare’s Globe in 2011, the three productions will be shown in their entirety on screens in hundreds of local cinemas. Offering a truly distinctive cinema experience and the very best seat in the house, this season is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the unique charm of the world famous Globe Theatre and these critically acclaimed
performances.
Scholar and actress Abigail Rokison, well known for her role as Primrose Larkin in The Darling Buds of May amongst others, gives her prize lecture as the winner of the inaugural Shakespeare’s Globe Book Award on Wednesday 10 October, 7pm at Shakespeare’s Globe. Her lecture on the discoveries in her book Shakespearean Verse Speaking will include lively demonstrations by Globe actor Philip Cumbus.
Shakespeare’s Globe today announced the gift of £1.5 million from an anonymous private donor for a matched-giving scheme to help the Globe reach its fund-raising target of £7 million towards the new Indoor Jacobean Theatre. For every pound raised by the Globe, it will be matched from the £1.5 million pool, bringing the fund-raising total to £4.5 million.
