Bottom played by John Ramm
A Midsummer Night's Dream (2002)
Written by: William Shakespeare
John Ramm played Bottom in the 2002 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream, having returned from New York where the Globe Theatre Company performed the previous summer’s production of Cymbeline at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM).
In his final blog post John discusses how the company continue to rehearse while the play is being performed, the audience response to the opening night and how the 'mechanicals' perform their play-within-a-play.
In his third blog post, John discusses the problems that have arisen from running the play, the decisions he has made for playing Bottom and what he'll be wearing for his costume.
In his second blog post, John discusses the use of improvisation in rehearsals, time spent rehearsing on the Globe stage, and how to speak Shakespeare's lines most effectively.
This is John's first blog post. This week he discusses his previous experience of performing at the Globe, and the work the company does to prepare their characters.
