Hermione played by Priyanga Burford
Priyanga makes her debut at Shakespeare's Globe, in the role of Hermione.
"There's a point in the play where I speak very directly to the Groundlings in front of me, at quite a traumatic moment. I looked at this one lady and she didn't want me to speak to her. She looked very upset and she looked down, which had a really interesting effect on me in the moment in the play..."
With the show well into its run, Pri shares some memorable moments of audience interaction.
"I kind of disagree with this idea that Hermione is this kind of paragon. She's not the statue yet; she's a really interesting, sparkling, clever, funny woman..."
With rehearsals underway for The Winter's Tale, Priyanga shares her thoughts on the Globe, her character, and the role of women in the world on stage and off.
