Globe Education offers specialist training for students of theatre arts. Conservatory courses are available for a number of theatrical disciplines, including acting, directing, stage management and design and run from two days to a full academic year in duration.
Theatre students work to develop key skills in their specialist area while using the Globe Theatre as a touchstone for learning. Participants could range from an acting student from New Jersey in residence for the entire third year of his/her training, to an MA director from a UK drama school taking an intensive module, or a theatre high school student from New Zealand enrolled in one of our summer school courses.
Students in each programme have the opportunity to explore verse-speaking, the geography of the Globe theatre space, the materials of theatre practice past and present (i.e. clothing, cosmetics, props, musical instruments), the cultural conditions in which Shakespeare’s plays were produced, and the dynamic and powerful relationship between actor and audience at the Globe.
We aim to address the skills and knowledge base that each partner requires, thus creating bespoke courses that are tailored to meet each partner’s needs. These programmes can vary in intensity and duration.
If you are interested in creating your own course with Globe Education, please contact Alexandra Massey, either by email or by telephone on 020 7902 1436.
