Emma Pallant came back to the Globe, after her role as Lady Macbeth in the 'Playing Shakespeare' production of Macbeth, to play both Phebe and Jacques in the 2011 touring production of As You Like It.

Hodsock Priory in Worksop is really beautiful. The Priory itself is a hotel and wedding venue so it is very well equipped for guests and visitors. It is a Tudor red brick building with Victorian additions, covered in wisteria and ivy.

The Globe in Germany is not dissimilar to the London Globe except that it is made mainly of metal and seats about 500 people; there’s no standing in the yard here!

At The Globe

As You Like It comes back to the Globe! Emma talks about the development of her two characters, including the perception of her female Jacques. She also talks about the challenges of performing on the Globe stage, including playing to a larger audience, using different entrances, and possible problematic costume changes.

Letters Home: Portsmouth

The venue in Portsmouth is the garden of a museum. The museum is a big red brick building with a formal garden outside and, quite interestingly for us, the exhibition in the museum is on Sherlock Holmes, so it’s all about the Victorian era basically.
