Get Into… The Merchant of Venice
Live online workshop, free from Globe Education.
Globe Education at Shakespeare’s Globe hosted a free 30-minute workshop webinar, streamed live and online on the 20th of November 2013, offering an introduction to teaching The Merchant of Venice for KS3 and KS4.
Globe Education Practitioner Tas Emiabata worked with KS4 student participants in the live studio-based session with a real time Q&A. Viewers could watch practical techniques working in situ, download the accompanying resources, follow along with the group and had their questions answered live by an expert practitioner.
This was the first ever CPD workshop streamed from Globe Education and forms part of the annual Playing Shakespeare with Deutsche Bank project offering over 70,000 London state school students free tickets to a thrilling 100-minute full-scale performance of Shakespeare’s play in Shakespeare’s playhouse, created especially for young people. London state schools can apply online for performances 6 – 20 March, and schools outside London and independents can purchase tickets for performances between 21 – 28 March.
Workshops for students and CPD can be experienced at the Globe with Globe Education’s year-round programme of Lively Action workshops, each of which is tailor-made to suit the individual learning group and led by a specially trained Practitioner. The sessions can be tailored to suit key stages, Special Educational Needs, and focus on particular plays, themes and curriculum aims. In the Academic Year 2012-13, over 82,000 students from the UK and abroad took part in Lively Action at the Globe.
