Shakespeare’s awareness of Italian comedia is well known, but the influence of Greek theatre was also significant. Jack Shepherd, assisted by Marcello Magni, led this exploration of the full mask, the comic half mask and the three-quarter mask employed in classical Greek and Roman theatre. A wide selection of texts and stories influenced the project, including St. John, Milton, Dante, Orpheus, Comedia and The York Mystery Cycle.
