Shakespeare's Globe

Key Stage 3

  • Education/Learning/In Schools/KS3/students on stage/CS

Globe Education works with Southwark schools, teachers and practitioners and is fully funded by Excellence in Southwark.

Creative and Media Diploma

Globe Education, in collaboration with Southwark Theatre Education Partnership, has been designing and delivering a ‘behind the scenes day’ for level 2 students studying the Creative and Media Diploma in Southwark.

The day uses Shakespeare’s plays and the Globe as a stimulus to inspire imagination and understanding. Through providing a practical exploration and understanding of the career pathways. Students developed interview and information gathering skills and consider how performance context encourages multiple interpretations of a play text. Through attending and working in the Globe space, students are provided with a real context for employment opportunities.

Students practically explore the roles of an actor and director, working as a company at Shakespeare’s Globe through answering the following key questions:

    •    How does the Globe space effect decisions made by an actor or director?
    •    How does Shakespeare’s language help to set the scene?
