Shakespeare's Globe

A Concert for Winter

What is A Concert for Winter?

A Concert for Winter is Shakespeare’s Globe’s annual festive celebration of the past, present and future of Southwark complete with song, dance, poetry and a myriad of performance. Participation is free for a relaxed and intimate showcase of Southwark’s rich talents.

Who can take part?

We look for groups which represent the wonderful diversity and variety that Southwark has to offer. Every year we extend the invitation for schools, businesses and community groups to perform songs, music, poetry, storytelling and dance on the Globe Stage.

Each group has the opportunity to present their own choice of performance relating to the year’s theme. Groups are given some guidance on their performance and how to perform on the Globe’s unique stage but we are excited to hear your ideas on how to celebrate the place of Shakespeare’s Globe in our Southwark Community.

Globe Education is committed to ensuring our work is accessible to the Southwark Community and this forms a core part of the selection process.  As a result we endeavour to select groups and schools that represent the whole of the borough, as well as considering whether groups and schools have applied and participated in previous years, what other project work the group or school is doing with the Globe, and guidance from our funders.

We encourage anyone to apply. We are looking for committed and enthusiastic participants and would welcome applications from groups all over the Southwark Community. We are committed to equal opportunities and welcome applications from SEN schools or groups.

How can I take part?

Applications for the 2014 Concert For Winter will open mid-2014.
