Imagine the Globe as it would have been: the centre of what was once London's most notorious entertainment district, surrounded by raucous taverns and bawdy-houses. Housed beneath the Globe Theatre, the Exhibition uses modern technology and traditional crafts to bring Shakespeare's world to life.
Special Effects
Discover the secrets of Elizabethan special effects, from blood and gore to magic tricks and flying on stage. How were characters hanged on stage and what created Macbeth's thunder? Listen to recordings from some of the most famous Shakespearean performances, and add your voice to scenes performed by Globe actors.
Costumes
In the Elizabethan tiring room find out about the extraordinary methods used in creating clothes 400 years ago, feel the fabrics and marvel at the metres of cloth needed to make a single ruff.

Constructing the Globe
Film commentaries portray the epic struggle to recreate the famous playhouse and describe the remarkable reconstruction of the Globe by craftspeople using hand tools and Elizabethan techniques. Read more here.
Live Demonstrations

Tickets
Tickets for the Exhibition & Guided Tour can be purchased on the day or in advance. Tours depart every 30 minutes and visitors are placed on the first available tour. Groups of 15 or more are required to book in advance. Click for prices and links to online ticket purchase.
