2013 Season - Shakespeare's Globe A Midsummer Night's Dream DVD

Shakespeare's Globe 2013 production of A Midsummer Night's Dream filmed on the Globe stage.

'The course of true love never did run smooth', remarks Lysander near the start of A Midsummer Night's Dream, and the veracity of his statement soon becomes apparent in what is one of Shakespeare's best-loved comedies, where magic and mischief unite against the backdrop of a turbulent fairy kingdom as well as six rude mechanicals attempting to stage their own play.  Starring Olivier Award winner Michelle Terry as Titania/Hippolyta (described by The Guardian as 'magnificently imperious') and an irresistibly funny Pearce Quigley as Bottom, this touching new production by the Globe's Artistic Director Dominic Dromgoole features 'consistently inventive' staging that 'beautifully captures both the humour and the disconcerting strangeness of the play' (The Daily Telegraph).  Filmed in High Definition and true surround sound.

Spoken in Shakespeare's English.

I saw the Globe's production of Midsummer while studying abroad. The play was amazing, and I'm very glad to have a chance to relive the experience!

I saw A Midsummer Night's Dream last year, and was so blown away by it that I went and saw it again! The whole play was fantastic, and utterly hilarious in parts, & I thoroughly enjoyed despite barely being able to understand what they were saying! And I have to say, the one who really did it for me was Matthew Tennyson as Puck. I've always loved this character, and I just felt that Matthew Tennyson portrayed him perfectly! He made a huge impact on me, especially when addressing the audience at the very end - he just left me speechless!

I saw this life last year in the rain, at the end of the show my glasses were wet both from the rain and tears of laughter. Especially the play of Piramus and Thisbe (spelling??) was brilliant. The whole show is one tongue in cheek performance, my favourite?? BOTTOM...
