2013 'Season of Plenty'

Join us for a bold and vibrant 2013 theatre season.

Three ground-breaking, international companies which came to London for Globe to Globe will return for a limited number of performances as part of wider international tours. A thrilling Venus & Adonis from South Africa, an enchanting Georgian  As You Like It, a wild Indian Tempest, and a searing Belarusian King Lear.

The Tempest with Roger Allam returning to play Prospero, Colin Morgan as Ariel in his Globe debut and Jessie Buckley as Miranda. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is always a joy, and Olivier Award winning Michelle Terry is coming back as Titania. Continuing with the supernatural, Eve Best will direct Macbeth, with Joseph Millson as the title role joined by Samantha Spiro as Lady Macbeth and Bette Bourne as the Porter.

Three new plays will receive world premieres – The Lightning Child by Ché Walker, directed by Matthew Dunster and with music by Arthur Darvill, Blue Stockings by Jessica Swale will be directed by John Dove, and Gabriel by Samuel Adamson, featuring English trumpet soloist, Alison Balsom.

We’re also squeezing five touring productions into our season. The three plays of Henry VI, under their original titles; Harry the Sixth,The Houses of York & Lancaster, The True Tragedy of the Duke of York, will visit venues around the UK, including playing three-in-a-day events on battlefields, and a visit to the Globe. Two small-scale tours will play across the UK and Europe, with Joseph Marcell playing King Lear, and a raucous all-female The Taming of the Shrew.

Fifteen shows, truly a season of plenty.
