Othello Cinema Release Competition: Terms & Conditions
Win a prize bundle to experience Shakespeare live at Shakespeare’s Globe, in a cinema near you and from the comfort of your home.
Please read these competition rules carefully. By entering this competition, you confirm that you have read these rules and agree to be bound by them:
The Prize
- The prize consists of:
- 2 x seated tickets for a performance of any production in the Globe Theatre or the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse taking place before 29 April 2025.
- 2 x drinks to collect on arrival on your chosen performance date.
- 2 x standard tickets for a cinema screening of Othello, directed by Ola Ince, in a cinema of your choice.
- 1 x 12 month subscription to Globe Player.
- The prize is not exchangeable, transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash.
- Each element of the prize is subject to availability and Shakespeare’s Globe reserve the right to replace any element with an alternative of equal or greater value.
- The winner must provide details of their preferred cinema screening by Monday 30 September, 12 noon BST from the available cinemas listed on https://www.shakespearesglobe.com/whats-on/othello-cinema-broadcast/. Shakespeare’s Globe will endeavour to secure tickets for the winner’s preferred screening date and location but may provide an alternative if this is unavailable. If the winner has not provided their preferred screening by this date, they forfeit the right to this element of the prize.
- The winner must provide details of their preferred performance in the Globe Theatre or Sam Wanamaker Playhouse by Friday 13 December, 5pm GMT. Shakespeare’s Globe will secure tickets in the best available section of the theatre at the point of the request. Tickets are subject to availability and one-off or special events are not applicable. If the winner has not provided their preferred performance by this date, they forfeit the right to this element of the prize and to the accompanying drinks.
- The winner will be provided with a list of drinks options, including beer, wine and non-alcoholic options, once they have provided details of their preferred performance and will be required to confirm their preferred drinks options by email within a week of receiving this. The winner must inform Shakespeare’s Globe of any dietary restrictions they or their guest have at the point of requesting drinks. Drinks will be available to collect on arrival at the theatre on the day of the winner’s visit.
- The winner must provide an email address for use with the Globe Player subscription by Friday 13 December, 5pm GMT. The Globe Player subscription will be activated once this email address is provided and will last for 12 months from the activation date. If the winner has not provided their preferred email address by this date, they forfeit the right to this element of the prize.
Entry Requirements
- Entry is available via our Twitter/X account, our Instagram account and via an entry form on our website.
- To enter on Twitter/X: Follow us @The_Globe, reshare the post and reply to our giveaway tweet with a candle emoji.
- To enter on Instagram: Follow us @The_Globe, and comment with a candle emoji in our giveaway post.
- To enter via email, complete the entry form on our website.
- The giveaway closes on Wednesday 25 September, 6pm (BST)
- The winner will be picked at random and contacted via social media or by email no later than Friday 27 September.
- Entrants can enter the competition once via each channel and therefore can receive up to three (3) entries for this competition. Entries from each channel will be treated equally.
- The winner will be chosen at random from all eligible entries received from Twitter/X, Instagram or email entrants
- Entry is open to UK entrants aged 18 and over, except for those not eligible to take part: employees or contractors of the promoters or immediate family members of employees or contractors of the promoters
- There will be no charge for entering the giveaway
- If you win the competition, we will notify you via your social media account (using the details provided at entry) or via email. If we cannot contact you or you do not respond within 24 hours of being notified by Shakespeare’s Globe, we reserve the right to offer the prize to another competition entrant
- We will NEVER ask you for your bank details or to enter personal information in exchange for the prize
- Only entries submitted before Wednesday 25 September, 6pm (BST) will be entered into the giveaway
- No responsibility can be accepted by Shakespeare’s Globe for entries that are not received for any reason and incorrectly completed entries will be disqualified
- All entries received after the closing date will automatically be disqualified
- Entry is open to UK entrants aged 18 and over, except for those not eligible to take part: employees or contractors of the promoters or immediate family members of employees or contractors of the promoters
- There will be no charge for entering the giveaway
Data Protection
- Any information submitted as part of your competition entry will be processed in line with Shakespeare’s Globe’s Privacy Policy.
- As part of your entry by email, you can choose to opt into receiving email updates from Shakespeare’s Globe. This is not a requirement of entry and you can update your preferences, or request that we delete any of your personal data, at any time by email [email protected].
- As part of your entry by email, you can also choose to opt into receiving email updates from Source Entertainment, our cinema distribution partners. This is not a requirement of entry. If you opt in, you agree to Shakespeare’s Globe sharing the details you provided with Source Entertainment who will then process the data in line with their own privacy policy.
General
- This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Twitter/X, Facebook, META or Instagram. By participating you hereby release and hold harmless Twitter/X, Facebook, META or Instagram.
