This event has now passed.

A free creative writing workshop in collaboration with Goldsmiths College and The London Rep.

In celebration of Black History Month, this workshop will empower Black writers to imagine themselves into any period in history and inspire writers from other backgrounds to be more detailed and inclusive in their rendering of the past. The aim is to empower you to create your own stories and confidently bring to life Black people of the past, long silenced by erasure.

The workshop will start with a screening of the short film The Very Error of The Moon (a quarantine made smartphone response to Othello) and Q&A with writer, actor, and filmmaker Leaphia Darko. Then we will explore how by excavating the lives of Black British people from the past you will be able to develop ideas about how to write your own ethnically diverse historical pieces.

The workshop will be preceded by an academic seminar 2.00pm – 3.00pm, for MA students of Shakespeare’s Globe/ King’s College London and Goldsmiths. Find out more details about The London Rep.
