Storytelling: The Merchant of Venice

Book Now

Place stereotype under the microscope in this interactive storytelling event for all the family to explore Shakespeare’s The Merchant of Venice.

Venice is a city driven by money and prejudice. When Antonio makes a deal with Shylock to borrow some money, the stakes are high: if he doesn’t pay up on time, the consequences will be horrible!

Who is right? Shylock is Jewish and that’s important, because, in Venice, no-one will take his side.

Helping us to pull all the threads together will be Alex Kanefsky. Alex is an oral storyteller, actor and writer who has told stories in schools, libraries, tents, caravans, forests, pubs, bookshops and museums.

If you prick us, do we not bleed? If you tickle us, do we not laugh? If you poison us, do we not die?
