Professor Jane Grogan

Jane Grogan looks into the camera

Jane Grogan is a Professor of Renaissance literature at University College Dublin, Ireland. She has published books on Edmund Spenser’s epic romance The Faerie Queene, on early modern English engagements with Persia (ancient and Safavid), and most recently, has edited the first English translation of a key Greek text about ancient Persia, Xenophon’s Cyropaedia. She is Chair of the Society for Renaissance Studies (UK and Ireland), and is currently working on a book about the massacre of 600 Italian, Spanish and Irish soldiers and civilians at Smerwick in 1580.
