HIGHER EDUCATION COURSES

Course, workshops and residencies for universities & drama schools

We work with higher education institutions from around the world, offering a set selection of workshops for those looking to sample our spaces and teaching, and intensive actor training residencies, ranging from one day to an entire semester.

ONE-DAY COURSES

Choose from one or more of our workshops, allowing your students to explore the history of the Globe as a theatre, the challenges and opportunities of performing in this unique space, and the language used in Shakespeare’s plays. Suitable for students studying accounting to acting, and hosted in our purpose-built rehearsal studios (our practical performance session can also take place on the Globe stage, if desired).

We only take bookings for Weekdays (Mon-Fri) and do not take bookings on Bank Holidays. If all 3 sessions are booked together you’ll receive a discount of 15%.

BESPOKE COURSES

If you’re interested in a longer engagement at the Globe, we can work with you to develop a bespoke course tailored specifically to your needs. Students will explore the relationship between the audience, actor, and architecture in our unique spaces, and discover how this impacts our understanding of Shakespeare’s texts. Courses can last from a few days to 6 months, with the option for intensive courses to culminate in a private presentation on the Globe Stage or in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse.

Students on longer courses will have access to our Library and Archive to support them with any recommended or required reading that has been set. We can also work to your own institution’s guidelines for the setting and grading of written assessments – performance reviews, critical surveys, or reflective journals, for example.

Our courses are taught by a pool of Shakespeare’s Globe scholars and faculty – many of whom have professional experience working in our playhouses, and extensive experience of teaching at leading UK universities and drama schools.
