David Sterling Brown

Dr. David Sterling Brown is Assistant Professor of English at Trinity College (Hartford, CT) and he is a Shakespeare and critical race studies scholar. His monograph, Shakespeare’s White Others, will be published by Cambridge UP in Fall 2023. His second book project, Hood Pedagogy, is also under contract with Cambridge. In addition to being on the Race Before Race Executive Board, he is a member of the Curatorial Team for Claudia Rankine’s Racial Imaginary Institute and he is the dramaturg for Keith Hamilton Cobb’s Untitled Othello Project. From 2021-2023, he was an ACLS/Mellon Scholars and Society Fellow. Brown has published numerous essays on race and whiteness in such venues as Shakespeare Bulletin, Shakespeare Studies, Los Angeles Review of Books, Radical Teacher, and Arden’s “State of Play volumes.
