BIOGRAPHY
Faizal Abdullah
Faizal is a Muslim-Malay-Singaporean theatre-maker who trained at Goldsmiths, University of London (MA Performance Making). He recently created and performed his solo show MENDAKI at the 2025 Voila! Theatre Festival. The Tempest marks his debut at Shakespeare’s Globe.
Theatre credits include Siapa Yang Bawa Melayu Aku Pergi? (Who Took My Malay Away?) (Edinburgh Festival Fringe – recipient of the Eclipse Award, 2023; VAULT Festival; Migration Matters Festival); A Couple of Strangers (Migration Matters Festival 2023); NO BORDERS: Feast on the Square (Royal Court Theatre); and Deciphering (curious directive, New Diorama Theatre).
Film credits include Arthur’s Whisky (EO Media); Raging Grace (Last Conker); Tiong Bahru Social Club (Tiger Tiger Pictures); and 7 Letters (Chuan Pictures).
Other work includes anti-racism and diversity facilitation, and creative collaborations with Talawa, Contact, Dash Arts, and UNIQUE Community. Faizal was awarded the Tall Stories Directors Award in 2024 and was part of the 2023 Horizon Nova Artist cohort. He is also Co-Director of Khai and Faizal.
