How long have you been a Globe Education Practitioner?
I have been a Globe Education Practitioner for almost a year.
Why did you want to teach Shakespeare to young people?
As someone who is dyslexic I found it quite hard to access Shakespeare but being able to get to know his plays in a practical way through acting, performing and theatre exercises, I am able to have the joy of understanding his rich words. This is a huge passion of mine when working with Shakespeare with young people.
What’s unique about working at the Globe?
The incredible team, the beautiful theatre and the uniqueness of being able to discuss theatre, Shakespeare’s theatre in a working theatre with amazing actors
Tell us about your most memorable tour or workshop
I love workshops in which we are able to go in and watch the actors at work on stage during a technical or dress run. I also really enjoy the workshop in which the participants really think uniquely about the exercises we are doing. Their responses can often make me rethink the play or the character in question and inspire my work outside of Globe Education as well as my work within it.
What piece of advice would you give to someone interested in becoming a Globe Education Practitioner?
Come to Shakespeare’s Globe and see a play! Immerse yourself in Shakespeare’s work and always have an open mind!
