Rory Mullarkey

Rory is a multi-award-winning playwright and translator. Previous work at the Globe includes an adaptation of Three Sisters and The Oresteia.

Theatre credits include: Even These Things, Cannibals, Single Sex (Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester); Mates in Chelsea, Living Newspaper, Pity, The Wolf from the Door, Remembrance Day [translation] (Royal Court); Wintry Tales (Live Theatre, Newcastle); The Cherry Orchard [translation] (Bristol Old Vic/ Royal Exchange Theatre, Manchester); Saint George and the Dragon (National Theatre); Each Slow Dusk (Pentabus/ UK tour); The Grandfathers (NT Connections/ Bristol Old Vic/ National Theatre); On the Threshing Floor (Heat&Light Company/ Hampstead Theatre).

Libretti include: The Skating Rink (Garsington Opera); Coraline (Royal Opera House); The Way Back Home (English National Opera/ Young Vic).

In addition to his own work, Rory is a translator of Russian and Ukrainian drama, and has translated plays for the Royal Court Theatre, the National Theatre, and the Free Theatre of Belarus.

Awards include: Abraham Woursell Prize [co-winner]; Pearson Playwrights’ Bursary for the Royal Exchange; George Devine Award for Most Promising Playwright [co-winner]; James Tait Black Prize for Drama.
