Tim Sutton

Tim Sutton is an award-winning composer and musical director. Music includes: Restless Natives on tour in Scotland; To the Streets! for B22 Festival; Measure for Measure at Shakespeare’s Globe; The Omission of the Family Coleman at Theatre Royal Bath; As You Like It and Titus Andronicus for the RSC; Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom at the National Theatre;  Mother Courage and Her Children, Alexei Sayle’s Imaginary Sandwich Bar Series 1-4, The Now Show Series 57-60, and Paul Sinha’s Perfect Pub Quiz for BBC Radio 4; and The Lavender Hill Mob in Cheltenham and on tour. Other scores for theatre include The Secret Garden at West Yorkshire Playhouse; Dreamfighter at Lichfield Festival; The Bacchae for National Theatre of Scotland; As You Like It at Wyndham’s Theatre, and As You Desire Me at the Playhouse.

His community opera Cycle Song won the Royal Philharmonic Society Learning & Participation Award 2012. He is twice recipient of the Stiles and Drewe Best Song Award, and won the Vivian Ellis Prize for Best Musical for Beauty and the Beast. Tim Sutton is an Associate Member of the Inner Magic Circle. He is also committed to the development of new musical theatre, and has mentored aspiring writers on the Book, Music and Lyrics professional development programme since its inception in 2011.
