Bring Shakespeare’s The Tempest to life in this fun and practical workshop on one of our unique stages – the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse or the Globe Theatre. For ages 12–14.
Take a fresh approach to studying Shakespeare’s strange and wonderful tale with a practical exploration of the play. This in-depth session, led by one of the Globe’s highly experienced education practitioners, uses activities and games designed to draw out elements of the language, characters and themes of one of the most influential tragedies ever written.
This workshop is an engaging way to enhance studies of Shakespeare and theatre, or a brilliant opportunity for aspiring young actors and Shakespeare enthusiasts to tread the boards. No previous experience is required, just a desire to take part and learn more.
About the play
On a remote island in the middle of the ocean, magician Prospero creates a powerful storm that causes a shipwreck and washes his enemies to shore. While Prospero uses his magic to trick the trapped sailors with the help of spirit Ariel, one of them falls in love with Prospero’s daughter Miranda, and island resident Caliban plots to kill him. Will any of them ever be able to leave the island again?
Please note that the October workshops will take place in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse and the February workshops will take place in the Globe Theatre.
Tickets must be purchased by over 18s, but this workshop is designed for young people aged 12–14 attending independently. Parents can enjoy the Globe’s food and drinks on offer during the workshop.
