About Shakespeare Globe Centre-USA Inc.

Shakespeare Globe Centre-USA Inc. (SGC USA) works to support and develop the Globe in London and in its numerous activities across the USA. Founded by American actor Sam Wanamaker in 1974, SGC USA was a cornerstone in his quest to reconstruct the Globe Theatre and the transatlantic links remain to this day.

Each year, the Globe’s artistic presence in the USA varies; from screenings across the country of productions filmed on the Globe’s stage, to small scale tours, to the Broadway transfers of Richard III and Twelfth Night (2014), and Farinelli and the King (2017/18) starring Mark Rylance.

SGC USA also helps support the Globe’s vital education activity. Every year we welcome thousands of US students from high schools and universities to our London home through a range of bespoke education programmes. Our flagship learning programme is Rutgers Conservatory at Shakespeare’s Globe, offering students intensive classical study. Alongside this work, the Globe is working in collaboration with University of California Davis, to establish a groundbreaking education program that will support a large number of US teachers in practical approaches to teaching Shakespeare. The academy for teachers and educators combines lessons in California with courses taught in London.

Our US Patrons enjoy a range of benefits including priority booking and assistance with ticket purchases at performances in both the UK and US, invitations to special events, unique behind-the-scenes access, and more.

Shakespeare Globe Centre-USA Inc. is a registered 501(c)(3) U.S. tax-exempt non-profit organization, which supports the work of the Shakespeare Globe Trust in the United Kingdom and the United States (Federal Tax Identification number 36-3136379). Contributions are deductible to the extent allowed by law. Information submitted with a membership application will be shared with the offices of Shakespeare Globe Centre-USA Inc. in New York and the Shakespeare Globe Trust in the United Kingdom to facilitate ticket bookings and the provision of membership benefits.
