One Globe First Book Fellowship
One Globe First Book Fellowship
The One Globe First Book Fellowship supports an early career scholar of colour based in the UK or Ireland as they work towards completing their first monograph or book-length project. It is designed to encourage new perspectives in the study of Shakespeare, early modern drama and culture, and the global Renaissance, offering a community within the Globe’s network of academics, educators, theatre practitioners, and archive professionals.
The Fellowship recognises that the road to book publication is a challenging one, and that scholars of colour can face additional barriers in the transition from graduate study to career. By supporting a scholar of colour at this writing stage, the Fellowship responds to the need for greater diversity in the field of early modern studies.
Open to those who have completed a PhD, the Fellowship provides £2,000 for work undertaken in 2027, along with access to the Globe’s unique performance archives. The Fellow will be asked to give up to three presentations over the course of the year, which might take the form of public lectures, scholarly talks, or classroom seminars. These engagements will allow the Fellow to receive feedback on work-in-progress, develop professional skills, and connect with other scholars.
