Bring Shakespeare’s famous tragedy Hamlet to life in this fun and practical workshop designed for ages 14–16.

Exploring themes of grief, madness, and family relationships, this play contains some of Shakespeare’s best-known speeches. This in-depth session will analyse Shakespeare’s use of language and stagecraft and will take place in one of our rehearsal spaces. Led by one of the Globe’s highly experienced education practitioners, this workshop will develop understanding through active discussion and practical drama activities.

This workshop is an engaging way to enhance studies of Shakespeare and theatre, or a brilliant opportunity for aspiring young actors and Shakespeare enthusiasts to explore the story. No previous experience is required, just a desire to jump in and enjoy.

About the play

In the gloom of Denmark, Prince Hamlet’s recently deceased father appears as a ghostly vision. When the dead King explains he was poisoned by his own brother, now married to his wife the Queen, the Prince swears to get his father’s revenge and fix this wrong. But as Hamlet tries to keep his promise, acting the fool to navigate a treacherous political world, it seems to only set him on a path of further madness and bloodshed…

This workshop includes a tour of the Globe Theatre.

Tickets must be purchased by over 18s, but this workshop is designed for young people aged 14–16 attending independently.
