A new bilingual production of Shakespeare’s tragic love story weaving together the Welsh and English languages, Theatr Cymru’s Romeo a Juliet burns bright in the indoor, candlelit Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, placing the violent feud between the Montagues and Capulets in Wales.
Two families, two languages and a young couple who are prepared to risk it all.
Profound passion meets total chaos, as a clashing society is pushed to the brink and changes love’s course forever.
Directed by Theatr Cymru Artistic Director Steffan Donnelly, this ground-breaking bilingual production combines Welsh and English, exploring Welsh identity and offering a new perspective on Shakespeare’s timeless play.
A Theatr Cymru production in association with Shakespeare’s Globe.
‘Speakest thou from the heart?’
