This dynamic course gives students aged 15+ the chance to delve into Hamlet to analyse Shakespeare’s use of language and stagecraft, in Shakespeare’s original performance space.

When the ghost of Prince Hamlet’s father appears and tells him he was murdered, what should the young Hamlet do? His path to revenge is complicated by family ties, court politics, and the inner workings of his own mind. Exploring themes of grief, madness, and family relationships, this play contains some of Shakespeare’s best-known speeches. This is your chance to explore them in the unique surroundings of the Globe Theatre.

Designed for students studying Shakespeare or English Literature, this session sees Globe practitioners and participants explore the ‘rotten…state of Denmark’, bringing it to life through active discussion and practical drama activities.

Encouraging the development of an informed personal response to the play, underpinned by understanding the text’s relationship to the unique performance conditions of the Globe, this course is particularly suitable for GCSE and A-level Literature students.

Workshops will be led by one of the Globe’s highly experienced practitioners who include actors, teachers and directors.

To be or not to be, that is the question

Tickets must be purchased by over 18s, but this event is designed for young adults 15+ to attend without parents/carers (i.e., this is not an event for whole families). Drop off/pick up will be in the main foyer of Shakespeare’s Globe.
