Online CPD: Teaching Anti-Racist Shakespeare
Learn new skills to build an anti-racist approach to teaching Shakespeare in the classroom in this practical Continuing Professional Development workshop, designed for Secondary English and Drama teachers.
This is an online event hosted on Zoom.
As part of Black History Month, this two-hour, online CPD offers a practical toolkit, drawing on Othello and The Merchant of Venice. It will be led by an experienced Globe Education Practitioner.
The plays will be examined through the lens of anti-racism and the outsider and look at how we can identify parallel occurrences in contemporary society.
This session forms part of our commitment to understand and address historic bias and racism, enabling teachers to apply this lens whilst analysing Shakespeare’s plays, with tools and insight aimed at embedding lasting change.
