Research in Action: Framing the Play

Sam Wanamaker Playhouse

Join us in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse for Framing the Play, an interactive and insightful exploration of how playbills, prologues and performance paraphernalia affect an audience’s reception of plays.

Using examples from well-known and less-familiar plays, Globe actors, leading academics and you, the audience, uncover and question how information available to playgoers might affect our expectations and responses.

Part of our ongoing Research in Action series which gives audiences a chance to be part of the Globe’s exploration of early modern and contemporary performance culture.

Using examples from well-known and less-familiar plays, Globe actors and leading academics uncover and question the practices of the Early Modern stage.

Expect discoveries – and expect to be asked for your feedback.

With Dr Eoin Price, Swansea University (with the support of the Leverhulme Trust).
