Planning a group visit to our Exhibition & Tour? Find out all you need to know ahead of your visit below.

Groups of 15 people or more are required to pre-book their visit, and each group will have its own tour guide. To make a reservation, please fill in a Group Request Form and return to us via email.

You can also combine your visit to the Globe Exhibition & Tour with one of the many attractions along Bankside, plus live demonstrations and refreshments, to make a fun-filled half day or full day.

Sam Wanamaker Playhouse Tour & Globe Exhibition

Explore the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, our indoor theatre. Discover the impact on Shakespeare's writing in his late plays, the role of music, how the intricate details of our theatre were painstakingly researched from contemporary Tudor and Jacobean buildings such as Hatfield House, and wonder at the remarkable craftsmanship. Elizabethan Experience

Adding to the ‘Globe & Rose’ package, the popular ‘Elizabethan Experience’ also includes an Elizabethan Dressing demonstration. Our guide will explain the intricacies of dressing and the significance of clothing in Elizabethan society. Refreshment options include tea or coffee and a biscuit, or your group could choose a tasty cream tea of scones with jam and clotted cream, served with tea and coffee. Refreshments will be served in the Swan Bar with stunning views across the Thames to St Paul’s cathedral.

A Long View of London

Start off your group visit with our standard package of the Globe Exhibition followed by a guided Tour. The focus of the Tour and Exhibition is London’s Elizabethan and Shakespearean history, as well as exploring the modern Globe’s place in this timeline. Your group will then set off for a session at The View from the Shard where you will have the opportunity to visit the 69th and 72nd floors and see how the landscape of London has changed. Top off your day with a tasty pub style Afternoon Tea, served in the historic setting of The Horniman’s Pub at Hay’s Galleria.

Globe Exhibition

Explore the Globe Exhibition based under the Globe Theatre. Our engaging and informative Exhibition explores the life of Shakespeare, the London where he lived, and the theatre for which he wrote. Imagine the Globe as it would have been: the centre of what was once London’s most notorious entertainment district, surrounded by raucous taverns and bawdy-houses. Visit includes complimentary audio guide, which is available in English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Mandarin and Japanese.

Stage Fighting

Do you know how stage fighting was used by Shakespeare and his contemporaries in Early Modern plays? Watch a demonstration of Elizabethan stage combat techniques and join the Q and A session to discover the answer.

Printing the Plays

Discover the remarkable and precarious journey of playwrights’ words from the stage to the page in Shakespeare’s era. Using a full-size recreation of a 17th century printing press, we’ll show you the sophisticated methods behind making books.

Elizabethan Dressing

Do you know the origin of the phrases ‘straight-laced’, ‘loose women’ or ‘pin money’? Find out as we dress someone from your group as a Shakespearean character and discuss the significance of clothing in Elizabethan society.

Duration: approximately 30 minutes.
A minimum of two weeks’ notice is required for the Stage Fighting experience.

How to book:

To book any of these demonstrations, you must make a group booking for the Globe Exhibition, for which a separate admission charge is applicable. Demonstrations take place in view of other exhibition visitors, but seating will be reserved for your group where possible. All activities are subject to availability and must be booked in advance, when a full schedule for your visit will be agreed with you. Booking is essential and must be paid for 14 days prior to your visit.
