Background

The Shakespeare’s Globe Book Award is given biennially to a scholar whose first monograph has made an outstanding contribution to our understanding and appreciation of the theatre of Shakespeare and his contemporaries. The award supports our mission to promote the work of new scholars.

The winner of the  2018 Shakespeare’s Globe Book Award is Simon Smith for his book Musical Response in the Early Modern Playhouse, 1603-1625, published by Cambridge University Press (2017).
