Worlds Elsewhere

Refugee Week takes place every year across the world in the week around World Refugee Day on the 20 June. In the UK, Refugee Week is a nationwide programme of arts, cultural and educational events that celebrate the contribution of refugees to the UK, and encourages a better understanding between communities.

This year to mark the week, the Globe will launch the Worlds Elsewhere Festival – exact details to be announced, but as with our previous two years’ Refugee Week programmes, it will be a chance to explore Shakespeare’s writing about refuge, displacement and belonging, and suggest how his stories might continue to help us understand the world today.
