MOVING STORIES

Join us in the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse for Moving Stories, a special, one-off performance of sketches, short plays and songs examining the plight of refugees and our response to the crisis.

A company of actors including Omar Baroud, Mackenzie Crook, Simon Russell-Beale, and Caroline Sheen – with more to be announced soon – perform new work written and donated by some of British Theatre’s leading playwrights and artists including Stephanie Dale, Toby Davies, Staten Cousins-Roe, David Edgar, Michael Morpurgo, Phil Porter, Alexander Rudd and Jenifer Toksvig.

All artists are giving their time for free to support the UN refugee agency (UNHCR). All profits from the performance will be donated to the UNHCR to provide support and assistance to refugees caught up in the current Ukrainian refugee crisis.

Originally curated in response to the Syrian refugee crisis in 2016 and performed at the National Theatre, Moving Stories has graced the stages of the Theatre Royal Haymarket, St Paul’s Cathedral and The Palace of Westminster.

Moving Stories takes place on Sunday 25 June, the final day of Refugee Week. Refugee Week is a festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary. Moving Stories is curated by actress Emma Manton in aid of the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
